Spike Rocks My Socks!
Nov. 20th, 2003 08:07 pmI just have to start this with a big whoppin' SQUEEEEEE! I LURVE MY SPIKE!
Lastnight's episode was fantabulous! I loved every minute of it, from start to finish. I hope this is a preview of what's to come from this season of AtS.
I think I fell in love with Spike all over again lastnight. I was spoiled, so I knew he was going to be corporeal by mail, but the episode played out 100 times better than any spoiler I read. I laughed out loud when Spike walked right into the door and fell down, and touching Angel and drinking his blood, and hugging Gunn. He is so animated and hands on, and I was thrilled to have him back to his solid yummy form.
The Sparmony didn't bother me at all. I would have been surprised if he didn't make his move on her. She's familiar, and the cold comfort he's needed for over a year, with everything he's been through. I loved when she rejected him, then he gave her the imfamous Spike look, and told her he liked her skirt, all I could think was she's one lucky bitca. I was melting on the couch just watching his mouth.
I also loved the flashbacks, and I really like Dru, so it was great seeing her again, and getting some insight on William when he was first turned. It really brings to light all the pain Angelus put him through, and what William/Spike had to do to try to gain his respect. I think that's all he's ever wanted from Angel, was respect, which he never got. I loved how Spike threw it all back at Angel when they were fighting, and FINALLY we got the "soul" discussion. Angel was CURSED...Spike FOUGHT for his soul. Any questions? I've been wanting the differences acknowleged since last season on Buffy, and that was one of the hightlights of the episode for me.
Let's see if I'm forgetting anything...OH! The cell phone conversation had me rolling, and I loved the flying tricks our boy can finally do!
I never watched Angel regularly until now, so the Lindsay thang didn't do much for me, but it looks very interesting, especially now that we know for sure Eve is a part of something bigger.
And... the regularly scheduled pre-show fun was had with
angstchic and
eyesthatslay. I even got to taunt them with my "I know what's gonna happen tonight". Hee! They thought I was being evil, but I assured them it was just my croupy laugh...now my cover is blown. HEE!

Date: 2003-11-21 02:29 am (UTC)I was very disappointed about the lack of interest in Spike's soul, and I know there were many others that felt the same way. I'm sooo happy it's finally been acknowledged. It made my night!

Date: 2003-11-21 03:21 am (UTC)I got so fricken tickled over his glee at being solid again. I loved the throwback line "Is this otter?" when he scarfed Angel's blood down. Hee. Yep, it was satisfying on so many levels.
I think one of the most satisfying things was Spike telling Angel that even as a Vamp, he was always "the better man" basically. He has always been different, a cut above - and he knows it. I always felt like (my personal opinion only, here) they placed waaaaaaay too much emphasis on the soul-having. It was nice for me to see that Spike realized with or without the soul, he was still better than Angel. I will enjoy seeing the loss of the "moral highground" resonate within Angel.
I also look forward to seeing what changes for Spike, status-wise. They are going to have to offer him something to get him to stay now, especially since it seems he can leave of his own free will now.
